Ms. Gust's professional career spans over 30 years in Human Resources management, employee and labor relations. During her long and varied career, Ms. Gust held positions with both labor and management. She most recently served as Vice President, Human Resources for Children's Hospital, San Diego (1986-1996) and started her career as a public sector union representative.
She has represented management and labor in grievances, arbitration and before various administrative agencies (EEOC, Department of Fair Employment & Housing, Unemployment Insurance Appeals) during her employment with Children's Hospital, Ohio School Boards Association and the University of California.
Since 1997, she has served as a full-time neutral. She was an intern with Anthony V. Sinicropi from 1998 until his passing in 2003, attending hearings and drafting awards for his final approval.
Ms. Gust's formal education includes a B.A. in General Studies from Siena Heights College in Adrian, Michigan and a M.S. in Human Resources Management from Chapman University, Orange, California. She is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Additionally, Ms. Gust has over 800 hours of professional development including 400+ hours in conflict management and dispute resolution.
Ms. Gust taught Labor-Management Relations at California State University, Fullerton and currently teaches at San Diego State University Professional Development. She is a frequent speaker and trainer on interpersonal communication, dispute resolution, discipline and termination, appeal processes, and discrimination/harassment.
Ms. Gust has served as an officer and is active in a number of professional organizations including the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR), the Industrial Relations Research Association (IRRA), the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and the Southern California Mediation Association (SCMA).
